Nerdy Cool

I guess you could say I’m just a normal guy behind a computer but I’m not. I am the Pokemon Master, the wielder of the Master Sword, The Dark Knight, A Super Saiyan, a Jedi Knight (Joined the darkside when I heard they had cookies) and a Nerdy Cool... AKA Red Bandaga

Someone made a cryogenic freezer and dressed up as bucky when he came out of cryo in civil war, they had another person dressed as a hydra agent with the red book and was pulling it with a chain.
They were in the autograph line and we got Sebastian’s reaction to it on video.

Tony Stark is my hero because i need a hero who struggles. Not just with criminals, villains or any outside force, but with more of their own demons than they will ever let anyone know.

I need a hero who finds themself again and again face-down in the mud and shattered remnants of their own mistakes but /always/ manages, somehow, to get back up. No matter if someone pushed them there or if they tripped on their own faults, they pick themself back up and /keep going/. Not because they have to, not because the world’s at stake, but just because they’re trying so hard to be /good/.

Tony Stark is my hero because he’s had his trust betrayed so many times, but it hasn’t turned him angry and bitter like too many other characters. Because no matter how deep in the dark he gets, he never stops caring about the world, about /people/.

Because his brain moves at a thousand miles an hour and I know what that’s like, how isolating it can be. Because he’s always wearing some kind of mask or another, because he’s /always had to/ and I know what that’s like, too. Because he carries his own shit on his own shoulders, and built his own superpowers with his mind and his skills and his own two grease-stained hands.

I just fucking love Tony Stark.

I’ve never had an interest in Iron Man but you may just have stated something.

I highly recommend it.  I can’t really add much else that isn’t already wonderfully stated above, but I will say I’ve always been very impressed with the portrayal of Tony Stark as a character in the movies, and definitely by IM3 I was very surprised, but pleasantly so, at how real they got with addressing PTSD and mental health. It’s there in IM1 and IM2 as well, but it’s very forefront and specifically addressed in IM3 (which the first Avengers movie is crucial to this development so if you decide to watch them do not pass that one up).  I truly can’t think of another superhero movie(s) that address the aftermath of what the hero has gone through like these movies do (not that they don’t have their struggles, but it very much stands out for Iron Man, especially in IM3).

And on top of all that he’s just tons of fun.

Anyway it’s very good stuff, 100% recommended!

Ok I saw this and I HAVE TO CONTRIBUTE BECAUSE SERIOUSLY LET’S TALK ABOUT TONY STARK.

There is so, so, so much going on inside of Tony at all times, and he handles it with such flippancy that sometimes I think everyone just … forgets about it. But it’s the background radiation to his character that’s always there, and it MAKES HIM. Tony at the end of the day is a man wounded by the the past, often betrayed by the present, who is still trying so hard to make something worthwhile for the future and for everyone he comes into contact with. He can be oblivious, he can be a jackass, but there isn’t an uncaring bone in his body–just a defensive wall of bravado. He’s a defiant, cocky, independent spirit (because he’s HAD to be, he was so alone in so many ways for so long), he’s a futurist exploring the potential of the present (because he’s seen it go so horribly wrong, and has made so, so many mistakes) and he lives a charmed life (that he can’t seem to stop ruining) and basically he’s such a contradiction and so complicated and so GOOD (and self sacrificing, ohmyGOD don’t even start me on some of the things he’s done, even if he’s also a long-term planner and tries to have a backup, he still takes the risk) despite having lost so much.

And seriously, he’s lost so much: his father’s affection (Howard was distant at best), his parent’s in general (the truth of which only gets worse), his entire peer group (he was in college by like 16), and his surrogate father, who not only died, BUT TRIED TO KILL HIM FIRST. In Civil War, he also loses *SPOILERS* the love of his life, and almost loses his best friend in the world. (One of his only friends in the world, certainly his closest.)

And despite all of this he’s always thinking ahead, he’s always thinking through, he’s always trying to FIX what goes wrong. He never gives up–even when it’s terrible for him. He’s so confident but so fragile and he works his ass off to balance all of it and he’s basically just spectacular. He’s one of the most lasting, defining characters of the Golden Age for a reason, he’s the hero Marvel really seriously began their cinematic universe with for a reason, and everyone should appreciate him more.

He just has such A+ character development, I can’t even.  Everything mentioned here is so true and so well put.  One of the things I love about him is, as he’s said himself, he’s “not the hero type.”  At least not in a clean cut, immediately obvious sort of way.  I love a lot of different superheroes, but he really stands out to me in what a beautiful disastrous mess he is.

image

And yet he continually keeps trying to reform himself and stays a FUN character, even with all the weight.  I mean, I talk about PTSD and his mental health and how these movies address that, but honestly I don’t immediately associate Iron Man with angsty broodiness.  I think of fun and wit and sass.  I just love it.  Going from Civil War all the back to IM1 after not watching it for so long, I just can’t even believe his character development.  I love him so much.

ALL OF THIS omg I love Tony Stark

He is a beautiful disaster

But oh when he shines, he shines so brightly
